We will connect online via Zoom or in person in Chicago, USA, where you will receive 1-one-1 instruction tailored to your own individual needs, regardless of experience level.

 

• Upon hearing you play, I will assess what your strengths are while considering aspects of your playing in need of extra attention 

• You are welcome to come to the lesson with a particular technical goal to focus on (e.g. controlling slides, bow control, etc) or simply bring in repertoire you are currently studying

 

I will provide an assessment potentially focusing on any of the following areas:

• Overall setup

• Bow arm

• Bow hold

• Left hand technique

• Phrasing

• Intonation

• Rhythm

• Tone production

• General style

​

• We will focus on 1 or 2 areas to improve through prescribed etudes and/or exercises

• You will leave the lesson with new essential information in hand, resources to explore, and exercises to move through obstacles in your playing 

Record a 10-20 minute video of your playing and I will provide an assessment potentially focusing on any of the following areas:

• We will focus on 1 or 2 areas to improve through prescribed etudes and/or exercises.

• We will either discuss via 30 minute zoom call or through a recorded video response that I will send to you for private/personal use only.

The OAI program is designed for those preparing for professional orchestral auditions in the United States, with a focus on excerpts most frequently found on audition lists. Receive 1-on-1 instruction from a veteran Concertmaster with proven success at auditions and nearly a decade of sitting on professional audition committees: 

 

• I will assign a complete repertoire list drawing from actual past repertoire lists of major orchestras such as the Boston Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, etc.

• The list will be based on the type of position desired (e.g., a concertmaster audition will feature many standard concertmaster solos, while a section audition will not)

• Receive exclusive access to my personal set of bowings and fingerings

• Understand how to show your individuality without crossing the line

• Manage your practice time efficiently and effectively

• Build a knowledge of the entire score (not just the excerpt)

• Develop a strategy for controlling your own performance psychology

We will work together to simulate a professional audition preparation, culminating in a mock audition. In this program you will receive:

 

• 6 1-hour lessons

• 4 comprehensive recording evaluations

• 1 mock audition with final comments

Masterclasses are particularly exciting because they are traditionally open to the public. They often bring different cultures together in significant ways, as has been the case when I have served as a clinician in Italy, China, and Ecuador. My aim is to give everyone in attendance something to think about, and that sometimes includes non-musicians!
